Phi Mu Fraternity To Host Second Annual All-Metro-Atlanta Founders' Day Memorial
Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) January 7, 2007 -- The Metro Atlanta Alumnae chapters of Phi Mu Fraternity announced today that all area Phi Mu members are invited to the second annual all-Atlanta Founders' Day memorial and celebration on March 1, 2008.
"Atlanta has grown and expanded enormously in the last few years. Where there was once one alumnae chapter, there are now six," explained organizer Ashlee Forscher. "The tradition that we began last year of joining all collegian and alumnae sisters together is going strong and we're thrilled to host the event again in 2008."
According to Phi Mu headquarters, there are almost 10, 000 Phi Mu members in the state of Georgia, with about 5,000 in the Metro Atlanta region.
"Members of Phi Mu come from all walks of life, all ethnic and religious groups, all parts of the country," continued Forscher. "Atlanta has welcomed thousands of Phi Mu sisters in recent years. Wherever a Phi Mu went to school, when she attends Founders' Day in Atlanta, she comes 'home for the holidays'."

Phi Mu Fraternity was founded in 1852 at Wesleyan College in Macon, GA. It is the second oldest women's secret society in the United States. Originally called the Philomathean Society, it existed solely at Wesleyan for more than 50 years before becoming the national fraternity Phi Mu in 1904.
